Muscat – Omani weightlifter Amer al Khanjari made the sultanate proud claiming two medals in the 88kg category at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
Khanjari put up an impressive performance at the Boulevard SEF Arena, claiming a silver medal in clean and jerk and bronze in the overall total.
He recorded a total of 354 points, finishing behind Uzbekistan’s Sarvarbek Zavarjonov, who took the top spot with 363 points, and Iran’s Ilya Salehipour at second place overall with 359 points.
The national team’s coaching staff hailed Khanjari’s outstanding showing, describing it as a reflection of the steady progress of weightlifting in Oman. They added that such results enhance the sultanate’s growing presence on the continental and international stage.
