Muscat – Ministry of Health (MoH) alerts the public about Mpox (formerly Monkeypox), an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus. The advisory details the nature of the illness, its symptoms, modes of transmission, and preventative measures are:
The initial symptoms of Mpox often mimic flu-like illness, starting with a fever, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue. This is followed by a distinct rash that can manifest anywhere on the body, including the face, genitals, and anus. The rash progresses through several stages, beginning as macules before developing into papules, vesicles, pustules, and finally scabs.
