Muscat – The Ministry of Labour (MoL) in Oman issued a notice to employers on September 30, 2025, regarding work permits for non-Omani employees. The ministry clarified that if work permits are renewed without registering active employment contracts, affected workers automatically gain the right to transfer their services to another employer.

This right becomes effective 30 days after the work permit renewal date. The MoL emphasised that this measure is intended to protect workers’ rights and ensure compliance with Oman’s labour regulations. Employers are urged to adhere strictly to employment contract registration procedures to avoid potential disputes or service transfers.
