Ibri – The Sultanate of Oman joined the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in celebrating its 95th National Day on Tuesday at the Rub al Khali border crossing in Dhahirah.

Organised by General Secretariat for National Celebrations in cooperation with Royal Oman Police (ROP), the event featured a vibrant programme of cultural and artistic performances reflecting the depth of Omani-Saudi relations.

The celebration opened with musical pieces by the ROP Music Band and a visual presentation tracing the history of bilateral ties, followed by a patriotic song. The Saudi Folk Arts Troupe also participated, presenting traditional performances alongside paragliding shows and heritage arts including Al Razfa and Al Azi.

Speaking on the occasion, H E Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, Saudi Ambassador to Oman, praised the strong social and cultural bonds between the two peoples, rooted in religion, language, neighbourhood ties and intermarriage. Since its inauguration in October 2021, the Rub al Khali border has recorded the passage of 133,559 Saudi citizens and 616,377 Omanis until August 2025.

He underlined the importance of the Rub al Khali crossing in boosting cooperation, trade and social communication. He noted that preparations are underway to launch import and export operations through the economic zone in Dhahirah located close to the border.

“The national visions of both countries – Saudi Vision 2030 and Oman Vision 2040 – are aligned and moving towards integration, paving the way for a promising future under the wise leadership of the two nations,” he said.

The ambassador highlighted that bilateral trade has grown significantly over the past decade, reaching about RO3.16bn (US$8.23bn) in 2024. Saudi investments in Oman currently stand at RO82.7mn, while Omani investments in the kingdom amount to RO115.9mn. He also stressed the crucial role of the private sector and SMEs in strengthening investment ties, while affirming the Saudi Embassy’s readiness to support government and private entities in achieving shared objectives.
