Hollywood – The Weeknd’s global smash hit “Blinding Lights” has become the first-ever song to surpass five billion streams on Spotify, a historic milestone reached on August 31, 2025. Spotify announced the achievement over the weekend, prompting fans worldwide to celebrate the iconic track’s continued dominance.

Originally released in November 2019 as part of the After Hours album, “Blinding Lights” has broken numerous records—topping Billboard’s Hot 100 for four weeks and remaining in the top 10 for an entire year. In 2021, it displaced Chubby Checker’s “The Twist” as Billboard’s Greatest of All Time Hot 100 song.

Moreover, it became the first track to reach four billion streams in January 2024 and currently stands as one of 28 Weeknd songs in Spotify’s Billions Club, the highest count for any artist.
