Salalah – The 2025 khareef season is offering a wide range of dedicated activities for children, combining entertainment with education in carefully designed environments that appeal to families visiting Dhofar.

This year’s programmes include interactive theatrical performances, heritage shows, recreational games and artistic displays that aim to engage children of all ages. Designed as part of the broader khareef season map, the events provide opportunities for exploration and learning in safe, child-friendly spaces.

Yahya bin Khalfan al Touqi, a visitor from Adam in Dakhliyah, said the diversity of activities, including simple educational plays, continues to attract a large number of visitors. “These performances are effective in engaging children and present information in a format that is both accessible and enjoyable,” he said.

Mu’ayyad bin Awad al Yafi’i from Salalah noted that events are being held daily across multiple venues, offering a blend of outdoor and electronic games. “The activities meet a wide range of interests. Children benefit from the balance between entertainment and educational content,” he said.

Parents attending the events also acknowledged the effort of organisers to create safe and enjoyable environments for their children. Ali bin Sulaiman, from Mudhaibi in North Sharqiyah, praised the venues, such as Attin Square, for providing dedicated zones that cater specifically to families.

He said performances of international acrobatic groups, fireworks, drone shows and artistic acts stimulate children’s imaginations and contribute to their cognitive and visual development.

Visitors from outside the sultanate also appreciated the activities. Abdul Nasser bin Yaqoub al Naar from Bahrain highlighted the attention to detail and the thoughtful selection of children-oriented activities. “Having pavilions across Dhofar has made it easier for families to explore comfortably. The heritage programmes, in particular, connect children to cultural traditions in a meaningful way,” he said.

Among this year’s new attractions is Attin Slide, described as the first of its kind in Oman. It uses the natural landscape of Attin plain to offer a new form of outdoor recreation.

Saeed bin Muslim Habis, who is responsible for Attin Slide, thanked Dhofar Municipality for supporting youth-led tourism initiatives. “This project contributes to the range and sustainability of tourism activities in the governorate, with potential for further development in future seasons,” he said.

The 2025 khareef season continues to draw significant regional interest, reinforcing Dhofar’s position as a leading monsoon destination that integrates natural attractions with family-oriented cultural and recreational programming.
