Muscat – The Sultanate is experiencing an intense spike in temperatures this week, with the Oman Meteorology Department reporting highs exceeding 40°C in several parts of the country.
According to the latest forecast, much of interior Oman is grappling with a significant heatwave, especially in the wilayats of the North and South Batinah, Dakhiliyah, and Dhahirah governorates. Temperatures in places such as Rustaq, Ibri, and Nizwa have climbed above the 40-degree mark, prompting warnings for residents to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
Muscat is also feeling the heat, with temperatures hovering close to 40°C — well above the seasonal average. Coastal humidity, particularly along the Arabian Sea, is adding to the discomfort, making conditions feel even hotter.
The current heatwave is expected to persist for the next few days, with only slight relief in the form of light sea breezes along some coastal areas. However, inland regions will continue to face harsh daytime temperatures.
