Muscat – In a significant breakthrough against transnational organised crime, the Royal Oman Police (ROP), in close coordination with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), has successfully dismantled an international migrant smuggling network.
The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations at the ROP arrested an Asian national residing in Oman who was found to be actively involved in orchestrating multiple migrant smuggling operations. The network was responsible for facilitating the illegal movement of individuals from various countries to destinations in Europe, in exchange for substantial financial payments.
The operation was carried out following detailed intelligence-sharing and collaborative efforts with Interpol, highlighting the critical role of international cooperation in tackling complex cross-border crimes.
The ROP urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may compromise the safety and security of the community.
