Muscat – Oman is ranked 52nd globally and fourth in the Arab world in the 2025 World Happiness Report. Published by University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Centre, the report marks the United Nations International Day of Happiness on March 20.

In the region, the UAE has secured 21st place surpassing the UK, US and France, and leading the Arab region. The survey, compiled by Gallup, ranks 147 nations based on their average life evaluations over the three preceding years (2022-2024).

Finland retains its top spot for the eighth consecutive year, while Mexico and Costa Rica enter the top ten, with the US ranking 24th.

After Finland, Demark, Iceland, Sweden and the Netherlands make the top five.

Kuwait is ranked 30th globally and second in the Arab world, followed by Saudi Arabia at 32nd globally and third in the Arab world. Bahrain is 59th globally and fifth in the Arab world, while Qatar has not been included in the report. 

The report assesses happiness levels based on indicators including GDP per capita, freedom to make life choices, perceptions of corruption, and generosity.
