Muscat – The South Batinah governorate has finalised some innovative projects, including a sand park in the Al Abyad Sands area of Khabat al Qaddan, Nakhal, to boost investments in the region’s tourism sector.

Sands Park – an ambitious project of South Batinah – aims to transform the sandy landscape into a premier tourist destination, attracting both local and international visitors.

Eng Masoud bin Saeed al Hashemi, Governor of South Batinah, described the project as a “prime investment opportunity” that will establish Khabat al Qaddan as a unique tourism hub. “The park’s strategic location near the highway connecting Muscat and North Batinah enhances its accessibility and potential to draw visitors,” he said.

Spanning 225,000sqm, Sands Park will feature a variety of attractions. A large recreational area covering 24,814sqm will include sections such as giant slides, an educational zone, a creative hub, and a social corner. Adding to its entertainment offerings, an open-air cinema will be developed over 7,806sqm, with seating for up to 2,000 people, providing a unique outdoor movie experience.

Incorporating eco-tourism, the park will have dedicated camping areas with sustainable facilities, an equestrian school, and commercial outlets designed to support small and medium enterprises. By blending adventure, education, and leisure, Sands Park is envisioned to become a leading environmental tourism destination in South Batinah, contributing to both economic growth and visitor engagement.

The initiative highlights South Batinah’s commitment to diversifying its economy through tourism, showcasing the region’s potential to attract investments while offering unique experiences for visitors.
