Royal Oman Police marks Annual Day with graduation ceremony and awards

Nizwa – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) celebrated its Annual Day on January 5 under the patronage of H E Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of Diwan of Royal Court. The event, held at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in Nizwa, featured a grand graduation ceremony and the presentation of prestigious awards.

Graduation ceremony highlights

The ceremony witnessed the graduation of the following batches:

  • 47th batch of officer candidates with diplomas in law and police sciences.
  • 11th batch of officer candidates under the service system.
  • 55th batch of university-level officer candidates.
  • 56th batch of specialist officer candidates.

The graduates included officers from the Internal Security Service, the Royal Guard of Oman, and international participants from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Djibouti. Their specialisations spanned various fields, including criminology, cybersecurity, disaster management, forensic genetics, maritime navigation, and industrial engineering.

The ceremony commenced with a salute to the event’s patron, followed by a military parade and the presentation of awards to outstanding graduates. A symbolic handover of the academy’s flag from the graduating batch to the incoming officer candidates was also conducted.

The graduates pledged their allegiance to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander, and concluded the parade with the ROP anthem, ‘Protectors of Truth.’ The Royal Oman Police Cavalry and Band added to the spectacle with a parade and musical performances.

ROP awards for excellence

The occasion also celebrated achievements within the Royal Oman Police, with the following recognitions announced:

  • Traffic Safety Competition (Role Model and Commitment): First place awarded to Dakhiliyah Governorate Police Command.
  • Criminal Investigation Competition: First place awarded to Dhofar Governorate Police Command.
  • Royal Oman Police Pedestrian Competition: First place awarded to Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences.

Distinguished attendance

The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Their Highnesses, Ministers, Advisors, Commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, members of the Council of State and Shura Council, Sheikhs, and parents of the graduates, alongside senior officials from military and civil institutions.

The celebration underscored the ROP’s dedication to excellence in law enforcement, training, and community service, reflecting its vital role in maintaining peace and security across the Sultanate.
