Muscat – The draw for the Socca World Cup Oman 2024 was held on Tuesday in Muscat, placing Oman in Group 1 alongside teams from America, Italy, Canada, and Qatar.
The tournament will take place in Oman from November 28 to December 8, marking the first time it is hosted in the Middle East, with 40 teams from around the world participating.
The ceremony was held in the presence of H H Sayyid Shihab bin Harib al Said. In his opening speech, Walid al Obaidani, Chairman of the Middle East Socca Federation, reflected on a decade of efforts leading to this international event. “This is an opportunity for amateur players to showcase their potential and capabilities to reach the national teams,” he stated.
Group 2 features Germany, Bulgaria, Georgia, Libya, and Serbia; Group 3 includes Greece, Belgium, Cyprus, Kuwait, and Iraq; Group 4 has Brazil, Egypt, Ireland, Colombia, and Iran.
Group 5 comprises Poland, France, Turkey, Pakistan, and Haiti, while Group 6 includes Mexico, Latvia, Albania, Peru, and Australia.
Group 7 consists of Kazakhstan, England, Romania, Uruguay, and Sudan, and Group 8 features Croatia, Hungary, Argentina, Tunisia, and South Africa.
The national team of Oman is actively preparing for the tournament, building on their experiences from the last Socca World Cup in Mexico and the Socca Oman Caravan.
