Musandam – Oman Customs officials have seized 50 drones that were being illegally smuggled into the country through Dara Port, located in the Musandam governorate. The drones, concealed within a larger cargo shipment, were found alongside other restricted goods.

The smugglers attempted to evade Oman’s stringent regulations, which require legal permits and tax payments for the import of such items. Authorities intercepted the shipment during a routine inspection at Dara Port, preventing the drones from entering the local market without the necessary authorisation.

This seizure underscores the ongoing efforts by Oman’s customs department to crack down on illegal smuggling and enforce import regulations. The authorities have stressed the importance of adhering to the legal requirements for importing drones and other restricted goods, both for national security and for the lawful use of these technologies in Oman.

Investigations into the smuggling attempt are currently underway.
