Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has launched a special initiative with dedicated officials at the helm of respective governorates to advance digital initiatives.
The Governorate Ambassadors Initiative for Digital Transformation aims to improve efficiency and service delivery across all governorates.
By appointing ambassadors in each governorate, the ministry seeks to harness national talent, including technicians, professionals, and activists passionate about digital transformation, an official said.
The initiative will enhance community awareness and usage of smart digital services, promoting a shift towards digital solutions as a preferred method for accessing government services. This effort is designed to increase citizens’ satisfaction and acceptance of these services.
Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman al Kharousi, Director General of Digital Transformation and Sector Empowerment at MTCIT, said the initiative focuses on raising awareness about digital transformation and familiarising the public with available digital services. “It aims to highlight the latest technologies that improve quality of life and simplify government processes.”
Participants will develop practical skills to get conversant with modern digital tools, including authentication, electronic signatures, electronic payments, smart applications and artificial intelligence technologies.
The new ambassadors will be categorised into three levels: Initiator, advanced and specialist, with a selection process based on specific criteria so to ensure that only qualified candidates are chosen to meet the goal.
The transformation programme focuses on institutional and community participation.
