Muscat – Abdullah bin Khamis al Farsi, player and coach of the Omani national Jiu-Jitsu team, has brought laurels to Oman by winning the silver medal at the AJP Tour Asia Continental Jiu-Jitsu Championship for Professionals, held in Abu Dhabi from September 13 to 15.
In an interview with Muscat Daily, Farsi spoke about his success in the under-62kg weight category, where he faced elite international competitors. The championship saw participation of 3,000 players representing 73 clubs and academies from across the world.
Other notable Omani competitors included Akram al Araimi and Fahad al Araimi in the purple belt under-77kg category, and Faisal al Balushi and Talal al Balushi in the purple belt under-85kg category.
Farsi, a member and founder of the Omani Committee for Martial Arts and Self-Defence, commended the high level of competition and highlighted the event’s growing importance on the world stage.
He emphasised Jiu-Jitsu’s core philosophy of leveraging mental strength to gain an edge over opponents and acknowledged the increased responsibility this achievement brings.
Farsi is committed to training young athletes, conducting workshops, and further promoting Jiu-Jitsu in the sultanate.
