Muscat – The national football team coach Jaroslav Silhavy has unveiled the squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The team is set to face Iraq and South Korea in the third stage of the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup.
The first match will see the Omani team take on Iraq at Basra International Stadium on September 5. Following this, they will host South Korea at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat on September 10.
The squad includes goalkeepers Ibrahim al Mukhaini, Faiz al Rashidi, and Ibrahim al Rajhi. The defensive lineup features Ahmed al Khamisi, Mohammed al Musalmi, Khaled al Buraiki, Ghanem al Habshi, Ali al Busaidi, Ahmed al Kaabi, Abdulaziz al Shamousi, and Amjad al Harthi.
Midfielders selected are Arshad al Alawi, Harb al Saadi, Abdullah Fawaz, Salah al Yahyaei, Zaher al Aghbari, Jameel al Yahmadi, and Omar al Maliki.
The attacking positions will be covered by Sultan al Marzouq, Nasser al Rawahi, Essam al Subhi, Abdulrahman al Mishfri, Mohsen al Ghassani, Mohammed Mubarak al Ghafri, and Mohammed Hamid al Ghafri.
The team will commence their preparations with an internal training camp starting on August 28 before departing for Basra on September 3.
The national team will also face Kuwait in Muscat on October 10, Jordan in Amman on October 15, and Palestine in Muscat on November 14.
The second round of fixtures includes a home match against Iraq on November 19, an away game against South Korea in Seoul on March 20, 2025, an away fixture against Kuwait on March 25, a home game against Jordan on June 5, and a final home match against Palestine on June 10, 2025.
