Muscat – Muscat will host the 5th West Asian Fitness and Bodybuilding Championship, which will bring together top bodybuilders from across the region. The championship, scheduled to take place from August 15 to 17, will be held at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Bausher.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Oman Bodybuilding Committee, which is organising the event, shared details of the championship. Dr Salem bin Saeed al Bahri, Chairman of Oman Bodybuilding Committee and head of the organising committee, informed that the event will be organised to the highest standards to ensure its success as a premier sporting event.
Twelve countries from the West Asian Federation will participate, including Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, Iran, Bahrain, Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, besides host Oman. The event will be attended by Rafael Santonja, President of International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation, and prominent figures from the Asian and Arab bodybuilding community.
The championship will feature a variety of competitive categories, including fitness categories for different heights. In the bodybuilding category, competitors will be divided by weight, ranging from 75 to 95kg.
Bahri highlighted the committee’s efforts to ensure all logistical and technical arrangements are in place, including preparing the competition site and providing a competitive environment.
Manar Heikal, President of West Asian Federation for Fitness and Bodybuilding and head of the Syrian Federation, informed that competitors will be evaluated on specific criteria, including muscle coordination, size, clarity and balance, besides stage performance. Judges will determine winners based on scores for mandatory poses and multiple judging rounds.
The press conference also covered details about tickets, arrival of delegations, and registration and weighing process, which will take place on August 15. Fitness competitions will kick off the following day and bodybuilding scheduled for August 17.
The West Asian Fitness and Bodybuilding Championship is considered one of the most prestigious events in the region, offering athletes the chance to compete at a high level and potentially qualify for international competitions.
