Muscat – Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP), in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, signed 14 usufruct contracts in the agricultural sector, totalling an investment of RO8.3mn, on Tuesday. 

The agreements were signed by Hamad bin Ali al Nazwani, Undersecretary for Housing in MHUP, and representatives of the investing companies and institutions.

H E Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Undersecretary for Agriculture in Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, attended the signing of the contracts alongside several officials of Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development. 

The contracts include various projects – poultry farming and marketing, livestock breeding and sales, waste management, apiculture and honey production, and cultivation of frankincense, wheat, coffee and dates.

Additionally, contracts were signed for establishment of a fig farm, an agricultural tourism project, and a goat farm spread over 850 acres.

The projects are strategically distributed across several governorates including Dhofar, Dakhliyah, North Sharqiyah, South Batinah, Buraimi and Muscat.
