Muscat – Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company and the Board of Directors of Sports Activities Support Fund (SASF) signed an agreement worth RO4mn for the establishment of an integrated station in Ghubra al Janubiyah in the wilayat of Bausher, on Sunday.
The collaboration aims to invest in land belonging to Oman Olympic Committee and various sports federations. The project, located opposite Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, will include setting up commercial facilities, a gas station and facilities dedicated to sports activities.
The commercial investment project, which will cover an area of 18,000sqm, is set to embody the essence of Omani heritage through its architectural design. It will feature a fuel station utilising renewable energy, an electric car charging area, and an integrated vehicle service centre set to international specifications.
The project stands out for its expansive panoramic area, offering parking facilities, a walkway, vast green spaces, a children’s play area, stores featuring renowned brands, restaurants, cafes, a sports club, a health centre, and a hypermarket. Embracing sustainability, the stores will utilise green energy sources.
The agreement was formalised by H E Basil bin Ahmed al Rawas, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, representing SASF, and Hamad bin Salim al Maghdari, CEO of Al Maha.
On the occasion, Maghdari said, “The project is strategically situated opposite the sports complex in Bausher, rendering it an ideal hub for commercial and residential activities. With its extensive green spaces, emphasis on renewable energy, and energy efficiency, the project serves as a paradigm for sustainable initiatives, which are integral to Oman’s future economy.”
He added that it signifies more than just a commercial venture; it stands for a genuine partnership between the public and private sectors, “reflecting our commitment to fostering the economic and social advancement of Oman. We take pride in the employment opportunities this project will generate and its support for various institutions.”
