Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has introduced a new feature in its mobile app that allows motorists to view images of their traffic violations.

This announcement was made at the opening of the COMEX Show on Monday.

Brigadier Nasser bin Musallam al Ruzaiqi

During the exhibition, Brigadier Nasser bin Musallam al Ruzaiqi, Director General of Information Technology at ROP, explained that the police department launched several comprehensive new services, including renewal of vehicle registrations through self-service machines, e-linking of the Supreme Judicial Council for marriage registrations and payment of traffic fines using payment portals such as Thawani and Tasdeed.

The new service also includes reprinting of lost vehicle licences via self-service kioks after submitting the request through the ROP app, he added.

“The Royal Oman Police is making great efforts to contribute to achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 by introducing innovative initiatives, preparing thoughtful plans, qualifying and training human cadres, and harnessing available resources,” Brigadier Ruzaiqi elaborated.

He stressed the continued modernisation and development of ROP’s technical system using the latest technological tools and means, such as artificial intelligence.

In this context, Brigadier Ruzaiqi added that the ROP mobile app provides a comprehensive platform for inquiry and payment of local or Gulf traffic and municipal fines whether of an individual or a company.

“Users can download violation reports, search by service category and period, and view e-payment history. The app enables users to check violations associated with a specific vehicle, ensuring the owner’s data matches with the vehicle’s data.”
