Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is taking part in activities of the Global Urban Festival, held in Cannes, France.

With the event concluding tomorrow, the Sultanate aims to showcase its vision for future urban development on a global platform.

Participation in the festival sees Oman presenting ambitious projects aimed at constructing modern, sustainable cities adhering to international standards of urban living. By fostering an environment conducive to investment, Oman seeks to attract attention from a diverse array of investors and institutions.

The festival boasts the attendance of over 6,500 investors and representatives from 300 international entities across 90 countries.

Central to Oman’s presentation is the unveiling of groundbreaking projects, notably the Al Khuwair Downtown development in Muscat. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, this $1.3 billion endeavor spans 3.3 million square meters, embodying a commitment to enhancing quality of life while accommodating a burgeoning population.

Anticipating a near doubling of Muscat’s population by 2040, the project prioritises sustainability and resilience. Comprising a marina, recreational waterfront, cultural hub, and governmental precincts, it promises a vibrant, inclusive community hub.

Oman’s presence at the festival signifies its dedication to urban innovation, heralding a new era of progressive urban development in the sultanate.
