40% of service road for Dibba-Khasab carriageway complete

27 Feb 2024 40% of service road for Dibba-Khasab carriageway complete

Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has informed that 40% of the service road for the Dibba-Lima-Khasab carriageway project is complete.

The service road is being constructed to deliver equipment to the project site, MTCIT stated.

MTCIT signed an agreement with Al Sarooj Construction Company in December 2023 worth more than RO151mn for the design and implementation of the 70km Dibba-Lima-Khasab road and a road link to the niyabat of Lima in Musandam.

Designed to be an all-weather conditions road that will allow passage of all types of vehicles, the project aims to stimulate the economy and tourism in Musandam. According to Abdul Aziz al Shehi, a resident of Khasab, the new road will ease traffic and allow people to travel between wilayats easily. “It will trigger economic development and help urban and tourism expansion.”

Ahmed Ali al Aqbi, head of the fishing port in Dibba, described the new road as a “quantum leap in logistics” considering the governorate has five fishing and a commercial port.
