Muscat – Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, held a meeting with owners of real estate businesses and commercial centres operating in Qurum on Monday with the aim of rejuvenating Qurum Commercial District.

Attended by Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, the meeting focused on transforming the district into a dynamic hub for shopping, entertainment and related services.

The revitalisation plan is set to enhance the economic and social vibrancy of the neighbourhood. It includes rehabilitation of public spaces with modern landscaping, paving, lighting and introduction of new commercial spaces. The initiative is geared particularly towards providing growth opportunities for small and medium enterprises in retail, food and entertainment services.

The redevelopment is expected to bring about significant economic, social and tourism benefits, besides creating job opportunities.

Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad al Busaidi, Chairman of Sabco Group, who attended the meeting, shared his enthusiasm on social media. “We received happy news from the Governor of Muscat about development of the neighbourhood, aiming to restore its status as a bustling shopping destination and commercial hub in the heart of Muscat.”

He elaborated that the district would undergo a comprehensive facelift with modern urban planning and lighting, along with new commercial and investment opportunities for SMEs in various sectors, including retail, food and beverages, and entertainment.

“This will play a pivotal role in revitalising commercial activities and modernising the shopping and entertainment landscape in the city.”

The plan is seen as a significant move towards enhancing the commercial appeal and overall development of Muscat.
