Muscat – Oman strongly condemned the Israeli military’s actions in Gaza for violating international and humanitarian law, calling these crimes of war and against humanity.
The sultanate warned that Israel’s planned ground operations could have significant regional and global repercussions, jeopardising peace and stability.
In a statement on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry urged immediate international intervention to halt the conflict and facilitate urgent humanitarian aid, in line with an October 27 UN General Assembly resolution.
H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Ayman al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, discussed the escalating situation in Gaza over phone on Saturday.
Both reiterated the importance of continuing efforts at the United Nations for a ceasefire and urged countries to convey the voice of truth and vote for the draft resolution, which Jordan presented to the UN General Assembly, on the need to protect civilians and adhere to legal and humanitarian obligations.
The two ministers stressed the significance of urgently delivering humanitarian aid, electricity and fuel to the residents of Gaza and stopping the war.
The health ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza stated on Saturday that at least 7,703 people have been killed in the war with Israel that erupted on October 7.
