Muscat – An innovative platform developed by students of University of Technology and Applied Sciences Ibri is making waves for its potential to assist children with autism.

Called Sanad, the student team has been lauded for the ingenuity of the project. Hajar Khaled al Zaidia, the team’s leader, described the platform as a comprehensive website containing meticulously curated audio and video clips. Its objective is to improve the skills of autistic children, enabling them to assimilate into society, become independent and discover their innate talent.

Delving deeper into the platform’s broader goals, Hajar said, “It is designed to assess the actual experiences of children on the autism spectrum, understanding the challenges they often encounter in getting appropriate therapy. With parents’ access to this platform, they can tap into specialised physical treatments formulated by experts.”

The team’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, having showcased their work at multiple exhibitions, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees and the broader community.

It has also hosted numerous workshops, lectures and exhibitions in conjunction with INJAZ Oman, which partners with educational institutions, targeting individuals aged 11 to 25, thereby enriching the students’ experience.

Sanad is in talks with Omani Autism Society and the National Centre for Autism, exploring potential synergies and avenues to refine the platform.

Looking ahead, the team intends to enhance the platform and form a dedicated support team to nurture and foster identified talents in children.
