Muscat – The Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC) at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation announced that there are 28,832 seats available across a range of higher education opportunities for the academic year 2023/24.
Among these, there are 16,315 academic seats allocated across various government higher education institutions, along with 621 academic seats reserved for foreign scholarships and grants. Moreover, there are 11,896 academic seats available in private universities and colleges.
According to the Higher Education Admission Centre’s data, over 20,000 applicants achieved a general average of 80% or higher. Additionally, more than 9,000 applicants achieved a general average of 90% or higher. This indicates that the total number of successful applicants through the Higher Education Admission Centre for the 2023/2024 academic year was 40,958 after the desire modification stage concluded on July 31.
HEAC at the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation will announce the results of the first sorting for admissions in the academic year 2023/2024 on August 16.
Hamad bin Khalfan al Numani, Director General of HEAC, said that stiff competition is expected to be witnessed in the results of the first sorting, especially for high demand educational programmes, such as those of Sultan Qaboos University, scholarships abroad, as well as health and education specialisations in various institutes.
