Wadi Bani Khalid records 32mm rainfall, more rains likely

Muscat – Heavy to moderate rains lashed several governorates in the past four days, with Wadi Bani Khalid recording the highest rainfall of 32mm from May 17 to May 20.

Isolated rains lashed Dhofar in the early hours of Sunday with more expected over most governorates during afternoon and evening. The adverse weather is likely to result in drop in temperature, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology.

The Met department stated that there are chances of sporadic rain and occasional thunderstorms accompanied by active winds on Sunday night, especially in the governorates of Dhofar, South Sharqiyah and al Wusta.

Data collected from the rain monitoring stations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources from Wednesday till Saturday showed that Nizwa received 23mm of rainfall, Ibri 21mm, Liwa 20mm, Al Qabil 18mm, Shinas 15mm, Rustaq 13mm, al Kamil Wal Wafi 12mm, and Jaan Bani Bu Hassan 10mm.
