Muscat – In its efforts to organise and support mobile vendors, Muscat Municipality has reorganised the mobile vending controls and requirements.
In accordance with the regulations and laws of the municipality that ensure the preservation of urban spaces, the municipality is streamlining the rules for mobile vendors, the civic body said.
‘This is being done so that these businesses are carried out within a legal and healthy framework that ensures compliance with proper conditions and procedures and for the safety of the public,’ it further stated.
According to the regulation, only Omanis can engage in mobile vending businesses. ‘Vendors must apply for an initial approval for the required activity, and commit not to practice it without obtaining a final approval from the municipality located in the requested wilayat.’
All licensed vendors must adhere to the stipulated health requirements while doing their business, the civic authority said.
‘Muscat Municipality invites all mobile vendors to reconcile their conditions in accordance with the health controls and requirements stipulated in the ministerial decision No 241/2016 issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.’
The also need to comply with the provisions of the Muscat Municipality Resolution No 185/2017 and Administrative Resolution No 219/2019.
