GCC Traffic Week kicks off in Dhofar

Muscat – The Royal Oman Police ( ROP), represented by the Dhofar Governorate Police Command, inaugurated Traffic Week of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in Dhofar on Sunday.

The week – to be held till March 11 under the slogan ‘Your life is a trust’ – was inaugurated under the patronage of H E Dr Bakhit bin Ahmed al Mahri, Undersecretary for Higher Education in the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI).

Brig Salim bin Mohamed al Ghaithi, Commander of Dhofar Governorate Police, along with a number of other officials was also present on the occasion.

The Gulf Traffic Week highlights the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations among all segments of society and road users to reduce the risk of accidents.

The week will see hosting of a three-day exhibition on traffic related matters, distribution of pamphlets and guidebooks, and competitions for children aimed at raising awareness of the importance of traffic safety.

The week will also include a blood donation campaign to be held at the Traffic Safety Institute, while several awareness lectures will be held at the University of Dhofar, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah, Sultan Qaboos Hospital and the Vocational College.
