Muscat – International flights at Oman’s airports rose to 57,939 till November 2022, an increase of 134.5 per cent compared to 24,710 flights in the same period in 2021.
Data released by the National Centre for Statistics and information (NCSI) shows an increase in the number of international and domestic flights and passengers arriving and departing through the airports of the sultanate until the end November 2022.
The figures show that the number of arrivals at Omani airports recorded an increase of 142 per cent and departures rose 111 per cent, while the total number of passengers – arrivals, departures and transit – rose 126.2 per cent to 8,764,286 in the 11 months of 2022 from 3,874,038 in the same period in 2021.
The number of departing passengers from Muscat International Airport rose 140.3 per cent to 3,218,666 in the 11 months of 2022 from 1,339,185 in the corresponding period of 2021. International arrivals at Muscat airport rose 189 per cent till November 2022 to 3,470,363 from 1,200,527 in the corresponding period of 2021.
The number of departing international flights at Muscat airport in the same period in 2022 went up 130.7 per cent to 26,903 from 11,661 in 2021, while the number of international flights arriving rose 131 per cent to 26,890 from 11,642 in 2021.
The statistics also show that Salalah Airport recorded an increase of 73.8 per cent in the number of international and domestic flights to 7,940 till November 2022, carrying 1,30,829 passengers.
There were 743 international and domestic flights from Sohar Airport, carrying 6,966 passengers, while Duqm Airport recorded 598 flights, compared to 570 flights during the same period in 2021.
