Muscat – Bollywood buffs eagerly await the release of Pathaan on Wednesday. The high-octane spy thriller stars Shah Rukh Khan (SRK), Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
The film is of special interest to Hindi film lovers as the mega-star SRK returns to the silver screen after a gap of four years. His last film – Zero – had one of its premières in Muscat with the star attending the event himself.
Commenting on Pathaan, an official of Stars Cinema said, “Few films create an air of excitement around their release; Pathaan is one of them. Most of our audience is from South India, but there have been a good number of enquiries from them. People of other nationalities, including many Omanis, love Shah Rukh’s movies. So we expect a good turnout.”
Families and many companies have made advance bookings in theatres.
Nada Balushi, a corporate communications manager, said, “I have been a SRK fan since my teens. I waited eagerly for four years to see him come back. To add to my excitement over the film, I also like Deepika – for her grace, style and the strong characters she portrays.”
At the ongoing Muscat Nights in Qurum Natural Park, Lunar Cinema will screen the movie for a week for RO1 per ticket. Badraa Syed, a senior official, said, “This movie will be a great experience to see under the open sky on a giant screen.”
Adding to the interest in the film in Oman is the fact that part of story is set in Dubai. Vincent D’Souza, who works in the advertising industry, said, “I visit Dubai for work often, so I am curious to see how this big-budget production makes use of the location.”
