Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued two Royal Decrees on Wednesday reading as follows:

Royal Decree No 92/2022 directs military appointments and promotions at the Ministry of Defence.

• Article 1 appoints Maj Gen Hamid Ahmed Said Sakroon as Head of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies.
• Article 2 promotes Commodore Ali Abdullah Mohammed al Shidi to the rank of Rear Admiral and appoints him Commandant of the National Defence College.
• Article 3 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.

Royal Decree No 93/2022 refers to the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) Day.

• Article 1 states that December 11 will be observed as Sultan’s Armed Forces Day annually.
• Article 2 stipulates that Sultan’s Armed Forces Day will be an official holiday for all members of the Sultan’s Armed Forces in all parts of Oman.
• Article 3 cancels Royal Decree No 49/76 on Armed Forces Day. It also cancels all that contradicts this decree or contravenes its provisions.
• Article 4 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
