Muscat – The Office of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design has received 149 entries in the first stage of the second edition of the award which involves designing the Maritime History Museum.
The second stage will adopt a project to design the Maritime History Museum to be built in the wilayat of Sur in the Governorate of South Sharqiyah.
A statement issued by the Office of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design said, ‘The total number of individual entries reached 84, while the number of team entries reached 65.
The receipt of entries is the first stage of the award, wherein participants submit their illustrative files and description of their projects, following which the entries will be subjected to sorting and the arbitration committee of the award choosing the 30 best projects and providing the selected teams with observations for improvement of their projects.
This will be followed by the ten best projects being selected to compete for the first place of the award.’
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has provided land for the Maritime History Museum project in a coastal area measuring 14,154sqm to make necessary preparations for the project, in terms of facilities and other technical requirements.
Entries for the award were accepted from October 10 to December 1.
