Sayyid Theyazin presides over inauguration of Youth Centre

39 youth initiatives launched by MCSY in 2022

Muscat – As part of its efforts to support the youth, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) launched 39 initiatives in 2022. A total of 470 youth initiatives have been launched since 2016.

A statement issued by MCSY said, ‘The ministry launched 39 initiatives to support 10,510 youth in 2022. The first national strategy for youth launched recently aims to fulfil the aspirations of the youth, update data of the youth sector, and train Omani cadres to achieve the goals of Vision 2040.’

H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, presided over the inauguration of Youth Centre in Muscat Grand Mall on Wednesday. The ceremony included the opening of integrated facilities that provide services for young people in various cultural, artistic and technical fields, including photography, music, painting, emerging technologies, and studios and laboratories equipped with the latest equipment.

The facilities also include training halls, electronic books, Braille books for visually impaired individuals and a Creative Industries Incubator, which was established in cooperation with the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development.

‘The Youth Centre will launch 40 initiatives, support 60 small and medium enterprises, and support about 25,000 Omani youth,’ MCSY stated.

As per data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, Omani youth (18 -29 years old) constitute 19.4 per cent of the total Omani population.
