Muscat – The Delicious Dance Academy (DDA) of Muscat is preparing for a gala tenth anniversary celebrations on October 21, with over 250 students from the academy presenting a dance fiesta at the Qurm Amphitheatre in the capital city.
Titled ‘DDA LA FEST 2022’, the event is expected to attract over 5000 spectators, said the organisers.
Speaking during a press-conference on Saturday, a spokesperson for the academy said that the main attraction of the evening would be the ‘electrifying performances’ by over 250 DDAites.
“This event is the fruit of several months of hard work and planning put together with an ultimate goal of being able to provide the best platform for our students to showcase their talent and to just dance to their hearts content,” said the spokesperson.
This year DDA LA FEST is set to be more festive than ever as the academy completed ten successful years of ‘teaching, growing, and creating a bigger family’, another member said.
“DDA has never been a one-man show. It always displayed dedicated team-work. The members have been together for the longest of times – from those who have lasted for years to few fresh faces. No matter what, their teamwork is what has led us to the success and growth of the institution.”
This year DDA will host the two times National Award winner Padma Shri Shobhana, an acclaimed artist from the Indian film industry and a noted exponent of Indian classical dance as the chief guest. The academy has also planned a programme with the specially challenged children of the Indian School Muscat to express themselves through dance.
DDA started their journey in 2012 with an aim to introduce a new dance culture in Oman. At DDA, professional instructors offer training in different forms of dance such as hip hop, semi classical and contemporary, including those from the Bollywood – the Mumbai Film industry.
The free-entry event managed by Axis Events will starts at 7pm, the organisers said.
