Six pacts signed for community, infrastructure development

Muscat – Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) signed six memoranda of cooperation (MoC) to support a host of new projects worth US$2.2mn within its social investment programme on Thursday.

The new projects will benefit local communities and boost sustainable development across the sultanate. The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Dr Hilal Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health.

The initiatives include key areas in the fields of health, safety and the environment (HSE), community infrastructure development as well as enhancing the education sector.

To encourage the provision of the best medical services across the country, PDO will fund the purchase of medical devices for The Royal Hospital.

PDO also committed to support the activities of Oman Hereditary Blood Disorders Association for the year 2022/ 2023. As part of the agreement, the company is creating a mobile application to facilitate blood donation, while also funding training for health workers and joint replacement surgeries.

Abdul Amir Abdul Hussein al Ajmi, External Affairs and Value Creation Director at PDO, said, “We continue to expand our Social Investment Programme to support the communities. Our dedication and support are aimed at meeting community needs by providing critical facilities and services in areas such as health, safety environment and cultural preservation.

“We will thrive only if the communities in which we work prosper, and these initiatives will undoubtedly empower residents and contribute to the sustainable development of Omani communities.”
