Muscat – A high-level committee of Environment Authority (EA) participated in the Oman-Qatar Forum on Sunday. A statement said that a visiting delegation of the Qatari Ministry of Environment and Climate Change was briefed on the Omani experience in environmental conservation.

H E Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Omari, Chairman of EA, stressed the importance of environmental cooperation between the sultanate and Qatar, pointing out that the two countries have made great progress in the development of the environmental sector. He underscored the importance of exchanging experiences between specialists of EA and the Qatari Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

He added that the sultanate pays great attention to the environmental sector in line with Oman Vision 2040 which set the guidelines of the Oman Environment Strategy based on three axes – biodiversity, environmental quality and environmental economy.

The Qatari delegation will visit several natural reserves, including Qurum Nature Reserve in Muscat, the Centre for Rehabilitation and Propagation of Wildlife in South Batinah, and Al Saleel Natural Park and the Turtle Reserve in Ras al Jinz in South Sharqiyah.
