Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has invited bids for the rebuilding and maintenance of some heritage sites as part of its efforts to protect sites of distinct architectures.
A statement issued by the ministry said that the tenders have been called for the ‘reconstruction of Al Kasfah Tower in Al Ramah Fort in the wilayat of Rustaq (South Batinah)’, and for the ‘restoration of the Jibreen Fort in the wilayat of Bahla in Dakhiliyah’.
This is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to restore and maintain heritage sites having potential to support the national economy through tourism.
Tenders were also invited for the management and maintenance of the facilities at the Oman Botanic Garden.
The deadline for submission of tenders is November 6, the ministry said.
The Oman Botanic Garden is being built over an area of 423 hectares away from the residential areas in Al Khoudh, about 35km from Muscat.
The site was chosen because of its landscape, unique rock formations and wadis. The main components of the park will include a nursery, visitor centre, research centre, field studies centre, and outdoor and indoor environment centres.
According to the ministry, the project, which proposes to establish the sultanate’s first cable car, is expected to be completed by end of 2023.
