24 Aug 2022

Salalah – The Arabian Prosthetics Centre (APC) in Salalah, Dhofar, welcomed 30 wounded Yemenis on Tuesday from the governorate of Hajjah, located 123km northwest of Sana’a.

Among the 30 are adults and children who will undergo rehabilitation and prosthetic fitment at the centre.

The seven-year conflict in Yemen has devastated the country and has left thousands maimed for life. APC is at the forefront providing a healing touch and restoring hope among those who have been crippled for life in the devastating war.

During a reception held in honour of the wounded, Muhammad al Khazraji, secretary-general of APC, said the organisation’s sole purpose is based on humanity. “Healing wounds of the injured is above all considerations. That is why the centre has welcomed the wounded from various Yemeni governorates – Socotra, Saada, Aden, Sana’a, Ma’rib, Taiz and others.”

He stressed that Oman’s fraternal and brotherly ties with Yemen are something to behold and thanked the government and people of Oman for bringing joy to the wounded and their families.
Khazraji informed that the centre has so far provided rehabilitation to 850 wounded Yemenis, helping restore their mobility and also their hope.

“Bringing smiles is the ongoing mission of this charitable project founded by Sheikh Hamoud Saeed al Mekhlafi.”

The injured Yemenis, in speeches at the reception ceremony, hailed the efforts of Oman and expressed their gratitude to the sultanate, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and his government.
APC is a charitable project that provides rehabilitation services for amputees in exclusive cooperation with the German prosthetics company Ottobock.
