Salalah – The Environmental Protectors of the Environment Authority (EA) are continuing to raise awareness among visitors to Dhofar on clean and sustainable environment during the khareef season.
EA has formed a 40-member field team – Environmental Protectors – this year as part of its efforts to protect tourist sites during the khareef season in the governorate.
The field team members monitor all tourist sites for violations such as littering, cutting trees and damaging green spaces during khareef in Dhofar, besides raising environmental awareness.
Ahmed bin Suhail al Ma’ashani, an environment specialist in EA, explained that the environmental protection campaign is ongoing and was launched in early July to protect the biodiversity in the governorate.
“The focus is on making people aware of the importance of preserving the environment and green spaces, not cutting down trees and littering indiscriminately.”
