Muscat – Heavy to moderate rains lashed several wilayats over Tuesday and Wednesday. Al Hamra received 85mm rainfall, the highest in the country over two days.

According to data collected from rain monitoring stations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Buraimi received 35mm of rainfall, Nizwa 30mm, Dhank 25mm, Bahla 24mm, Izki 19mm, Mudhabi 8mm, Ibri 7mm and Yanqul 6mm over Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) informed that four people were rescued in Al Hamra by its personnel when their vehicle was washed away in a wadi in the wilayat on Tuesday.

The CDAA warned all against crossing overflowing wadis as heavy rains lashed most governorates in the last few days. Many parts of the sultanate are likely to continue receiving rain till Saturday.

Royal Oman Police also warned drivers against crossing wadis. ‘Crossing an overflowing wadi can attract imprisonment of up to three months and/or a fine of RO500, based on Article 49 of the Traffic Law.’
