Muscat – The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED), in cooperation with Al Nu’man Chinese Complex, will hold an exhibition to support owners of small and medium enterprises from June 23 to 29.
An ASMED official informed that the ‘habtah’ exhibition at Al Nu’man Chinese Complex in Barka will be open from 10am to 10pm. The seven-day exhibition aims to support SMEs and promote products of craftsmen and productive families in preparation for Eid al Adha.
According to the official, more than 80 SME owners, productive families and craftsmen will participate in the exhibition. It will include ten food and beverages outlets and games for children.
About ASMED’s ongoing efforts, he said, “The authority has launched several initiatives to support SME owners, such as the Jahiziah Programme and an on-the-job training initiative.”
The Jahiziah Programme supports and finances SMEs, targetting jobseekers who wish to establish SMEs and startups.
On Monday, the authority also organised a seminar with owners of SMEs engaged in the tourism sector, in the presence of representatives of concerned authorities.
The seminar aimed at improving the business environment in the tourism sector, offering ideas that contribute to overcoming the challenges SME owners face.
According to latest statistics, the total number of SMEs registered with ASMED till the end of March 2022 was 73,741, an increase of 2.22 per cent over the same period of 2021.
