Muscat – With an aim to development the capabilities of students, researchers and academics in the field of education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) launched ‘50,000 training opportunities’ initiative on Wednesday.

The initiative includes practical and specialised courses free of charge, targeting students, researchers, academics and innovators in all higher education institutions in Oman.

The initiative provides 130 opportunities in technological, research and study disciplines that keep pace with the fourth industrial revolution, and the skills required for future jobs. The disciplines covered include information technology, information security, cybersecurity, management, finance, accounting, and others.

Salim Saif al Ameri, representative of the Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN), said, “The initiative aims to encourage members of higher education institutions to register for courses, enhance their skills, provide them with many skills and experiences, take advantage of the summer vacation period and prepare them for the labour market.”

The participant will be awarded a certificate from edX, the global website for online education and training, upon completion of the course, said Ameri.
