Muscat – Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received Dr Ali Said Samikh al Marri, Qatar’s Minister of Labour, on Monday. During the meeting, the Qatari Minister conveyed greetings and best wishes of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar, to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The meeting reviewed relations between the two countries and means of enhancing cooperation in the areas of manpower, human resources development, training and exchange of expertise in technical fields.
The two sides also discussed activation of agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries, in addition to ways of maximising the economic benefit from World Cup 2022. They also reviewed several regional and international issues.
Dr Marri expressed his pride, and that of his accompanying delegation, over this visit and its fruitful results in terms of consultations and exchange of views on a range of issues. He underlined the importance of talks he conducted with Dr Mahad Said Ba’Owain, Minister of Labour, and other Omani officials. He further affirmed that these meetings provided an opportunity to tap the Omani experience in localising jobs and in occupational safety.
His meeting with Sayyid Fahd was attended by Dr Ba’Owain and Sheikh Jassim Abdulrahman al Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to Oman.
Later, Dr Marri met Salim Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, in his office. They discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries in areas related to the World Cup 2022. The two sides have formed a working team to boost tourism cooperation.
