ASMED calls on SME owners to register in Jahiziayh programme

Muscat – The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) has launched a programme called Jahiziayh with an aim to support and finance small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

An official from ASMED said, “The programme targets job seekers who wish to establish small and medium enterprises and startups. The programme is mandatory to obtain financing and incubation services and to obtain land with usufruct rights to establish projects.

According to the official, the training programme aims to spread the culture of entrepreneurship and develop the capabilities of the target groups in all governorates of the sultanate. The programme will last for three weeks and target about 150 people.

He explained, “The authority has set conditions for participation in the programme such as; the participant must be Omani, has a project idea ready for implementation, and attend the full training course. The participant must also prepare a preliminary file on the project idea and pass the initial evaluation to participate in the programme.”

According to the ASMED official, the number of Omanis working in SMEs, who are registered with the authority until December 2021, has reached 69,594, and the contributions of SMEs in exports until the end of September 2020 had amounted to around RO2.15mn.

“The authority is working on developing small and medium enterprises during this year and launching many initiatives such as incubating around 50 new institutions, launching 60 new Sanad service centres and adding around 40 new services,” said the official.
