Muscat – Oman International Hospital, the sultanate’s newest multi, super-specialty hospital that had a soft-opening in May 2021 was officially inaugurated on Thursday by H E Dr Ahmed Mohammed al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health, in the presence of H E Abdul Salam Mohammed al Murshidi, executive president of Oman Investment Authority, H H Basma al Said, Sheikha Amal Suhail Bahwan, chairperson of Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment Company and vice chairperson of Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, several ambassadors and distinguished guests.

Oman International Hospital is a joint venture of Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, Oman Brunei Investment Company and IdealMed GHS, Portugal.

The high-profile event started off with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by chief guest H E Dr Sa’eedi, declaring the hospital fully open with all its services and treatments available to the people of Oman.

Addressing the distinguished gathering, Sheikha Amal said, “Just a few years ago, Oman International Hospital was a dream of a group of visionaries to set up a world-class, comprehensive healthcare institution for the people of Oman with the highest international standards, and set to be a milestone in the development of the health sector in the sultanate in order to contribute to the achievement of visions and objectives of our contemporary renaissance under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.”

On the occasion of the official opening, Fathi al Balushi, vice chairman and board member of Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment Company and CEO of Oman Brunei Investment, said, “Since the beginning of the Renaissance, the Omani government has focused on the health and medical sector, recognising that with a good healthcare system, a country can offer its people a better quality of life and the opportunity to live well and age well. Under the guidance of our shareholders, we are extremely proud of the role Oman Brunei Investment Company has played in supporting the government’s vision.”

Dr José Alexandre Cunha, board member of Oman International Hospital and chairman of IdealMed GHS, the official operator of the hospital, said, “Today, Oman can celebrate the formal opening of its largest private hospital, which has been designed and equipped to provide the best healthcare services. At Oman International Hospital, excellence is a permanent goal that guides our daily challenge. It is the first hospital in the entire GCC region awarded by the European Foundation for Quality Management with the accreditation ‘Committed to Excellence.’

An audio-visual presentation of the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities and other features was made to the guests. They were also taken on a tour of the facility.

Strategically located in Ghubra in Muscat, just across the road from Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the hospital is easily accessible from any part of the city.
