20 Dec 2021 By

Muscat – Oman American Business Center (AmCham Oman) recently hosted its 2021 biennial general meeting and board elections at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Qurum.

During the event, OABC leadership presented the organization’s progress over the past two years and announced the outcome of the 2021 OABC board elections. Guests and attendees included OABC company members, VIPs from the Oman business community, and representatives from the US embassy.

Seven members of OABC were elected to serve on the board. Four members maintained permanent seats including Ali Daud, chairman and founder of OABC; Emmee Haun, co-founder of OABC; Fouad Eid, vice-president of OABC; and Gary Schumann, chief commercial officer at the US Embassy in Muscat.

The seven members elected to the board of directors include reelected members: Marla Valdez, principal at Valdez SPC; Paul Murphy, general manager of Grand Hyatt Muscat; Shayan Sumar, director at Apex Transgulf Manufacturing; and Talal al Subhi, executive director of Rohn Products International Arabia.

Newly elected members include: Mohab Ali al Hinai, co-founder of Sustainable Investments; Nourah Yousef Mustafa Mehyar, CEO of Nafith Logistics; and Samir Messaoudi, general manager at Sheraton Oman Hotel.

“There are more member companies in the OABC today than there were at our last biennial general meeting in December 2019,” Rebecca Olson, executive director of OABC, said. “This is just one indicator showing that OABC did not merely survive the pandemic as a business organization, but we have grown together as a network committed to enhancing Oman’s business environment, connecting business leaders from every sector in Oman, and fostering bilateral trade between Oman and the United States.”

As the official affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce in Oman (AmCham Oman), OABC promotes understanding, partnerships and other matters of mutual economic interest between business communities in Oman and the United States.

Formed in 2003, the OABC’s mission is to foster the development of commercial activity between Oman and the United States. With more than 30 events annually and over 160 member companies, OABC is Oman’s most active business center and networking group.

The Oman American Business Center is known for its advocacy on behalf of Oman’s private sector, and for hosting high-level professional networking events and informational sessions for professionals across the sultanate.
