Muscat- The Council of Oman with its two chambers – the State Council and Majlis A’Shura – opened the third annual session of its current term on Sunday.
Based on the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the State Council opened the session under the chairmanship of Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah al Khalili of the State Council.
The council endorsed a study presented by the Education and Research Committee titled ‘The Reality of Research in the Sultanate of Oman and the Role of Public and Private Sectors and Global Firms in Supporting Research’.
Members of the State Council affirmed that the study is in line with Oman Vision 2040 and its different strategies. It reflects the vision’s role in creating mechanisms aimed at enabling the public and private sectors and global firms to effectively contribute to enhancing research efforts in Oman.
The Majlis A’Shura opened the third annual sitting of its Ninth Term that began in 2019 and will continue till 2023.
The first session, chaired by Khalid Hilal al Maawali, chairman of the Shura Council, saw the election of Majlis A’Shura’s office bearers and heads and deputy heads of committees.
The majlis will hold a session on the State Budget draft for the fiscal year 2022 and discus other government proposals on Monday.
