Galfar wins RO9mn deal to repair roads damaged by cyclone

Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has awarded a RO9mn contract to Galfar Engineering & Contract Company for the repair of cyclone-related damages at Al Batinah Highway.

‘We are pleased to inform our esteemed shareholders that the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has awarded to Galfar the main works’ contract for road reinstatement works and repair of damages caused by tropical cyclone Shaheen at Al Batinah Highway,’ Galfar said in a disclosure to the Muscat Stock Exchange on Monday.

‘The value of this project is approximately RO9mn with execution period of 16 months including mobilisation period,’ the company added.

Galfar noted that the award of this project comes within the national efforts aimed at handling the impacts of tropical cyclone Shaheen on the main Al Batinah Road.

‘We take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology for the confidence vested on Galfar through the award of this project,’ the company added.

Earlier this month, Galfar was assigned by the Ministerial Committee to repair the damages caused by Cyclone Shaheen on Al Batinah Highway. As per an Oman News Agency report, the project covers the highway from the Wilayat of Al Musannah to the Wilayat of Saham.
