The traffic has been suspended on all major roads in Muscat and North and South Batinah till the end of the direct impact of cyclone Shaheen.
The National Centre for Emergency Managment (NCEM) stated that ‘while the cyclone eye is approaching the land located between the governorates of North Batinah and South Batinah, and due to the expected heavy rain and winds accompanying it, it is decided to stop traffic between the two governorates’.
NCEM further stated that traffic was suspended within the governorates of North and South Batinah. ‘Access will be given only for emergency and humanitarian cases. This comes while the eye of the cyclone approaches the land accompanied by gusty wind and heavy rains.
In Muscat, except for Muscat Expressway, traffic has been suspended on all major roads.
According to NCEM, of the 136 emergency shelter centers set up in all the governorates, 45 have been activated so far, and have received 2,734 individuals, including 1,998 citizens and 736 residents.
